Portable induction cooktops have been used extensively in Europe and Asia for decades. In the past several years, they have become more popular in the United States. Consumers are buying induction stoves because there is minimal heat loss, they are easily cleaned, and food can be prepared faster with it than with a conventional stove and can be placed on the countertop.
Induction hobs appeal to residential cooks, professional chefs, and is a great kitchen appliance to cook meals with when traveling. The cooktops appeal to those who enjoy camping, boating or the RV lifestyle because they save time and energy and are lightweight and compact.
If you live in a small space, such as a dorm room, studio apartment, or tiny home, a portable induction burner is just the right size.
The iSiLER 1800W Portable Induction Cooktop comes with eight temperature and nine power levels which are pre-programmed. It has user-friendly touch buttons, an electronic display and a dial knob for setting adjustments.
Features of the iSiLer Induction Cooktop
This iSiLER 1800W Induction Cooker has a tablet-like design as opposed a unit that has a flat cooking surface and a slanted control panel. The cooking surface is glass/ceramic with a guide that makes centering the pot or pan straightforward.
The display panel features from left to right are: timer, lock, electronic display, function (power/temperature), and on/off. A dial knob is used to adjust the temperature, power and timer settings. The power and temperature controls are independent of one another and either can be used to control the heat.

The 8 pre-set temperature settings range from 140°F to 460°F. The settings in Fahrenheit are: 140°F, 180°F, 260°F, 300°F, 340°F, 380°F, 420°F, and 460°F. The default temperature is 380°F.
It is important to remember that the temperature sensor is under the glass/ceramic and doesn’t come into contact with the bottom of the pot or pan on the cooking surface.
The 9 power levels range from 100 to 1800 watts with the default being 1200W. The levels are: 100W, 300W, 600W, 800W, 1000W, 1200W, 1400W, 1600W and 1800W.
The built-in timer can be set for a maximum of three hours. It will automatically shut off when the programmed time has elapsed.
Setting the timer is very easy as it is with most induction cooktops.
1. Press the timer icon and the default time of 30 minutes and the icon “min” will appear in the display window.
2. Turn the control knob clockwise to increase the time and counterclockwise to decrease the time.
3. Press the timer button again to reset the power or temperature level desired.
4. The electronic display will alternate between timer and power level (if using the power mode) and timer and temperature level (if using the temperature mode).
5. When the programmed time has elapsed, the unit will beep once and then automatically shut off.
iSiLer included important safety features to this 1800 Watt induction burner. One is the low and high voltage warning system (an error message will appear in the display). Another is the child safety lock which is activated when the button is pressed for three seconds. No settings can be changed when the lock is operational. The only buttons that can be used are the lock and the ON/OFF.
The unit will cease operation if the cookware is empty, does not contain enough liquid or if the internal temperature exceeds the selected temperature. If the pan is off the cooktop for more than 60 seconds, the unit must be powered on again and the heat and timer settings reset.
What Cookware to Use with Induction Cookers
As with all induction cooktops, this unit will only operate if induction compatible cookware is placed on the cooktop.
The base must have ferrous magnetic materials. Examples of induction safe materials are steel, magnetic stainless steel, cast iron and enameled cast iron.
The bottom of the pot or pan should be flat and free of dents or dings. The diameter base of the cookware used with this induction cooker must be between 3.9 and 8.6 inches.
Cookware that has a base made solely of aluminum, copper, glass, or ceramic or has a concave base will not work on induction stoves.
If you don’t want to invest in new cookware, check the pots and pans in your kitchen to see if they are induction ready. To do this, place a magnet on the bottom of the cooking vessel and if it sticks securely then the cookware will work on your induction hob.
The iSiLER 1800W Portable Induction Cooktop provides a convenient way to prepare food whether at home or on the road. If fire is a concern, induction cooktops are a great alternative to gas or electric stoves as there are no flames or electric coils.
One of the nice features of this unit is that you don’t have to be technologically savvy to use it. Manipulating the heat and timer is straightforward. The dial knob is handy since you don’t have to keep pressing a button to get to the desired temperature or power level.
The biggest drawback of this unit is the large increments in the pre-programmed temperature settings. Additionally, the temperature gap between 180°F and 260°F might be too wide for some cooks.
