fruit and vegetable juice

Juicers aren’t made to last a lifetime. The components eventually break down and the entire design may become obsolete with more advanced technology.

So, when do you know if it’s time to switch from your old trusty juicer to something more modern and capable? Whenever the pros outweigh the cons. If you set aside pricing and find that each and every feature is improved upon from one model to the next, then an upgrade might become a serious consideration.

Who Is This Product For?

Are you interested in a long-term investment? If that’s the case, then the NC900HDC juicer is one of the best investments you can make, in part for its long warranty on parts and performance.

This Omega Masticating Juicer has not only been designed to make highly nutritious juices, if you need something that’s more of a food processor, this unit can accommodate things such as grinding herbs, making frozen desserts, whipping cream, making nut butter, and more.

Another category of users that might appreciate the NC900HDC even more consists of people that live in shared apartments, or just people who don’t like loud noises.

What’s Included?

The following items are included in the package:

  • Masticating juicer

  • Manual

Overview of Features

This Omega Masticating Juicer comes with a 2-HP motor. It doesn’t spin any faster than 80 RPM. It’s called a masticating juicer for its slow and steady continuous juicing, perhaps not unlike a cow masticating grass. Of course, this should come as no surprise to anyone that’s familiar with Omega Juicers.

The company makes a strong case that masticating juicers do a better overall job than those fast and noisy monsters that most people have in their kitchens.

The juicer features a large feeding chute and is also designed to spit out pulp automatically, making it easier on the user to make multiple glasses in a row.

Heat transfer from the cool-running motor to the ingredients is almost a non-factor. This ensures minimal nutrient loss in the juicing process. What’s even nicer is that the NC900HDCdoes a better job at extracting juices from leafy greens.

Instead of speed settings, you have pressure settings. Each of the five settings sets the pressure that the machine applies to the ingredients. Therefore, turning the dial to the highest setting will ensure maximum juice extraction from leaves.

As far as operational difficulty is concerned, the NC900HDC is as straightforward as they come. Not only that, but you can also use it in the middle of the night without worrying about waking up everyone in the house.

How to Use

Almost no prep work is required to use the Omega NC900HDC juicer. The only thing you have to remember is that the pressure settings adjust the consistency and should be set to the type of ingredients in use.

The first two settings are ideal for fruits and other soft ingredients. If you’re looking for maximum juice extraction and smooth consistency from carrots and other root vegetables, the 5 setting is best. An interesting note here is that leafy greens also benefit more from the highest setting.

Last but not least, if you want to clean up or unclog the machine, you can use the reverse function. Flick the reverse button and the juicer will unclog itself most of the time. After you’re done juicing, unscrew the parts and wash them by hand or in the dishwasher.

As great as the NC900HDC juicer is, one can’t shake the fact that it’s not the cheapest residential juicer. If you’re interested in the same slow juicing process but at a lower cost, perhaps a more convenient solution would be the lower-end Omega J8006HDS

This more affordable juicer features many of the same functions as the newer model. It spins at 80 RPM and there’s minimal heat buildup to reduce the level of oxidation in the ingredients.

It’s also capable of dealing with root vegetables and leafy greens although it may not have the juicing efficiency of the NC900HDC. Nevertheless, the juicer is still quiet and fairly easy to clean. If you draw the line, the main difference is the masticating power: 200W for the J8006HDS vs the upper model’s nearly 1500W.

Not only is the Omega Juicer NC900HDC Nutrition Center a very sturdy kitchen appliance, but it also uses one of the best extraction methods out there – cold press extraction. The slow revolutions can squeeze the nutrients out of any ingredients.

And, this masticating juicer also helps to preserve a high nutritional value for more than just a few hours, as is the case with high-speed juicers.

It comes down to your needs, preferences, and budget to figure out what’s best in your kitchen. Do you want to make more than juice? Do you want something low-maintenance? If that’s the case, then the NC900HDC is a smart investment.
